Fire Department
Louisville's fire station is part of the Blount County Fire Protection District. It is a subscription-based utility. The fire department receives no outside funding from the town or county governments. Louisville fire station, designated station #6, houses a new state-of-the-art engine/pumper, a 3,000-gallon tanker truck (which can act as an engine, if necessary) and a 75-foot ladder truck. When the Louisville station is dispatched to a structural fire, additional tankers and support trucks from other stations are automatically dispatched. All responses to a structural fire are dispatched with a minimum of 10,000 gallons of water. Typically, firefighters implement a drop tank operation, which is like having a fire hydrant on the scene. The drop tank holds 3000 gallons of water. Tankers continually shuttle water from a nearby fire hydrant to the scene to keep the drop tank filled.
The Town of Louisville pays the yearly subscription fee for all residential and commercial properties within the town limits.
All emergency requests for the fire department should go through the Blount County Communications Center (911).
One important role of the fire department is providing smoke detectors. If a household does not have a working smoking detector, the residents can call the fire department's business line (865-983-2133) and request a smoke detector. The fire department will come to the residence and install a working smoke detector free of charge.
The fire department routinely provides community service programs to area schools, churches, daycare facilities, etc. To schedule a fire department, visit or to get more information, call the business office at (865) 983-2133. For more information, please check out the Blount County Fire Department website.
